Security Fencing For High Risk Perimeters
Velp has expanded its welded wire mesh fence line to cover the security segment: 358 anti climb panels for airports and utilities, 4.0 mm wire razor wire fence, and Y post systems combining mesh with topping deterrents. The range is aimed at integrators and government contractors working to defined security specifications.
Perimeter security is a systems problem rather than a product problem. A fence succeeds when aperture, wire strength, post spacing and topping work together to delay intrusion long enough for detection to matter. Velp supplies the panels, posts, brackets and topping from one production line so the geometry is consistent.

- 358 anti climb fence - 3" x 0.5" aperture welded panels (76.2 x 12.7 mm) that remove finger and toe holds.
- Razor wire mesh fence - 4.0 mm wire panels with concertina or flat wrap razor coil topping.
- Y post safety fence - mesh panels mounted on Y shaped posts with barbed or razor arms.
- Double wire fence - 8 mm / 6 mm twin wire panels for a rigid, modern visual line.

Specification Guidance
Project teams usually ask three questions. First, aperture: for prisons, data centers and substations the 358 profile is the default because it cannot be climbed with hands or feet. Second, wire diameter: 4.0 mm is the minimum for cut resistance on public infrastructure, while 5.0-6.0 mm is used where vehicles or heavy impact are a risk. Third, coating: in coastal or industrial atmospheres Velp recommends 275 g/sqm zinc plus a powder topcoat for a service life beyond 15 years.
Velp also supplies gates, bollards, corner posts and rack adapters, allowing contractors to order a complete perimeter kit rather than sourcing hardware separately.
Quality Control
Panels are inspected for weld shear strength, aperture accuracy and coating thickness, with sampling per lot. Galvanized panels are checked for zinc adhesion using bend tests to confirm the coating will not flake during handling and installation.
